Course Description
This course provides students with an opportunity to explore their creativity while building a strong foundation in graphic design principles. Open to all skill levels, it introduces computer graphic techniques, fundamental design concepts, and aesthetic theory. Students receive hands-on instruction in digital image creation and production, with a focus on the creative design process.
Key topics include the basics of graphic design, effective visual communication, brainstorming, teamwork, editing, presentation, and critique. Students will also develop skills in using vector and raster-based tools, layout design basics, typography, color theory, and scanning techniques.
The course emphasizes creativity and problem-solving in visual communication. Students will work on projects that guide them through the design process, from concept development to digital execution. Activities include discussions, in-class exercises, project reviews, and structured lessons to support their growth as designers.
Course Objectives
Introduce students to the history and trends of graphic design.
Build skills in InDesign, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, key tools for graphic design.
Enhance students’ creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
Teach and implement the foundational principles of layout and design.
Produce graphic design projects in various formats and for diverse purposes.
By course completion, students will understand and apply industry-standard principles of basic graphic design.
