The Worcester Bravehearts are a summer collegiate baseball team based in Worcester, Massachusetts. Their inaugural season in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) was in 2014. The team's home games are played at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field on the campus of the College of the Holy Cross.

The name “Bravehearts” was chosen out of a pool of over 1,000 possibilities submitted by the public. “Brave” is in honor of Worcester’s brave men and women in uniform serving locally and abroad, as well as a tribute to Worcester’s fallen firefighters. “Hearts” refers to Worcester’s nickname—“Heart of the Commonwealth.”

  • League Championships: 2014, 2015, 2018 & 2019

  • League record for average attendance per game

THEME JERSEYS

RALLY JERSEY

In 2022, Worcester Bravehearts became the first team in baseball history to change uniforms in the middle of a game, depending on the score.

If the Worcester Bravehearts find themselves losing after the seventh inning during a home game the team will change into their Mezcal Tequila Rally Jacket Jersey, inspired by GM Dave Peterson’s tacky jacket which is worn during his home game rally dances.

🏆 At the conclusion of the 2022 season, the Rally Jersey won the FCBL’s Best On-Field Promotion Award

FATHER’s DAY hawaiian Jersey

This Father’s Day “polo” jersey has a sublimated pattern that includes coconut drinks, hibiscus, palms and the team shield logo. Proceeds from the post game auction went to the Boy Scouts of America. The team store also sold golf shirts with the same pattern.

DESIGN YOUR OWN JERSEYS

A collaboration with the Boston Children’s Hospital. The Bravehearts printed custom colorless jerseys and asked pediatric patients to create their own design. Once complete, each jersey was worn by a player during a 2023 game then auctioned off, proceeds going to the Boston Children’s Hospital.

DetecTogether FIREFIGHTER

The Bravehearts collaborated with Detectogether to promote early cancer detection education and training for First Responders.

FRIDAY NIGHT BRIGHTS 2023

Sponsored by Pepsi, ‘FNB’ is their alternative Friday night home game jersey to raise awareness for Be The Match, an organization that connects patients with life-saving marrow or blood stem cell matches.

GHOSTBUSTERS ANNIVERSARY

To honor the 35th anniversary of Ghostbusters, the Bravehearts wore Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Ghostbusters jerseys on June 28th.

Fun fact: I created the burnt marshmallow textures for these jerseys by hand, slowly toasting and blistering marshmallows then photographing them.

PERFECT GAME CELEBRATION

The first perfect game in professional baseball history was recorded in Worcester, MA on June 12, 1880 for the Worcester Worcesters. They beat the Cleveland Blues 1-0. To celebrate the anniversary, on June 12, 2019, the Bravehearts wore throwback Worcester Worcesters jerseys.

TABLE TALK PIES vs CONEY ISLAND HOT DOGS UNIFORMS

The Bravehearts honored two local businesses, Table Talk Pies and Coney Island Hot Dogs, by having their fans vote for which neighborhood legend got to rebrand the team for a single game. Spoiler alert, the hot dogs won.

Fun fact: I am very proud of the dog’s onion eyebrows. 🤨

CHARACTER DESIGN

JAKE THE LION

Why Jake? "It’s a compliment in the fire service when someone calls you a good jake," said Dedham Deputy Fire Chief Fred Loewen. "It means you know your job, and you’re doing your job."

It was such a fun process to create and illustrate the Bravehearts mascot, Jake the Lion, but it was even more exciting to see him come to life through the costume fabrication process.

Jake is t-shirt tossing, bleacher sliding, high fiving royalty at Fitton Field.

FCBL ALL-STAR GAME

Worcester-Bravehearts_ASG_Ball_02.png

The Worcester Bravehearts hosted the 2016 FCBL All-Star Game at Fitton Field. Collaboratively, it was decided that the visual language for this jewel event would celebrate Worcester as the home of many famous diners, in addition to one of America's first diner car manufacturers. The identity of the host team, including colors and typeface, was paired with traditional diner aesthetics, such as neon and quilted stainless steel, to create a one-of-a-kind brand identity.

Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field had a record crowd of 4,319 wild fans.

Fun fact: The official game balls had custom blue & green stitching!
