Course Description

This course is a hands-on studio course that explores the creation of visual concepts using computer-imaging software. We will focus on computer-based illustration and design techniques that involve industry-standard drawing and painting software packages. Methods of teaching include: projects, lectures, demonstrations, and student critiques.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability of using the basic creation tools in Illustrator and Photoshop

  • Produce design pieces of various formats that show understanding of the

  • unique features of draw and paint applications

  • Show evidence of using the computer as a tool with a foundation in conceptual thinking

  • Discuss the place of computer-generated art in the current graphic design field—understanding

  • the possibilities and limitations
