teaching philosophy
As a design educator, my goal is to create a classroom environment that’s engaging, fun, and supportive—built on respect, trust, and a strong understanding of each student’s unique strengths, interests, and goals.
I take pride in getting to know my students personally, tailoring my approach to help them reach their full potential. I work hard to foster a community that feels safe and interactive—a space where students can experiment, share ideas, and see feedback as a tool for growth.
I encourage students to dig into the "why" behind their work. By guiding them to ask thoughtful questions about audience, context, user experience, and impact, I help them gain deeper insights and create designs that are meaningful and relevant. At the same time, I focus on building confidence with digital tools, offering hands-on learning that strengthens both technical skills and creative decision-making.
I believe in balancing group discussions, interactive lectures, and working sessions to create a well-rounded learning experience. Discussions promote collaboration and critical thinking, helping students consider different perspectives. Interactive lectures keep everyone engaged while allowing space for real-time feedback. Working sessions give students dedicated time to apply new concepts, test ideas, and get guidance as they refine their designs. Together, these elements ensure students gain both theoretical understanding and practical skills.
Drawing on my industry experience, I also encourage students to connect their work to broader cultural, ethical, and social contexts. Ultimately, my goal is to help students feel confident in their work and understand how design can make a real impact on the communities they serve.
